ill be in s.c. on santee cooper the first of october - i hear the bream and catfish are doing well at that time - ive got a lake map on the way from ebay - anyone here on odt have any first hand knowledge for this body of water ? if so help me narrow this thing down please -

I have been twice years ago all I can offer is that we caught perch , cut em in half and used that to catch huge catfish.
I think the largest we landed was 40+ lbs

I don't sorry I went with some buddies had a guide in a pontoon boat both trips caught the heck out of em.
Used little tiny hooks and worms to catch perch like fishing with a cane pole then fished deep with big chunks of the perch.
Good luck let us know how you do , post pics.

I have no experience at Santee Cooper, but if you are looking for big kitties I would think they aren't that different than in other reservoirs.

If you can catch whatever is the main forage bait there (panfish, gizzard shad, etc.), try live and cut bait after anchoring up on humps and points, or try drifting along main channel edges. Good luck!
