Can any of you experts tell us about double stack 9mm commanders?

This recon model is 18+1 in 9mm

I've got a Recon Commander double stack that's been tuned up by Nighthawk. I really like it and even though it's a Remington don't see myself selling at any point. But for carry? It's like having a 2lb sledge on your hip-- hate to say it, and I love 1911s -- but I carry a smaller, lighter polymer gun with just as much capacity.

For the past 2-3 years my EDC has been a bone stock Glock 19. I recently went to a range and shot a family members Sig P239 in .40. At 10 yards my groupings were about the size of a half dollar, with the P239. At 10 yards with my Glock 19 I am lucky if my groupings are within 3-5 inches. I've also noticed I shoot my Glock 43 and Sig P938 better and more accurately than my Glock 19. I've started carrying my Glock 43 w/ TT +2&3 mags. I have a good trusting of glock because of the reliability of them I have personally experienced. I also am against replacing the trigger in a carry gun, something just doesn't feel good about it.

I'm thinking my next step would be go to a range and shoot Sigs/Beretta in 9mm to verify. I'm thinking a Sig 226 or 320 would fit my need but I keep eyeing a Beretta 92fs (although I've never shot one)

Additional Info:
I'm a larger frame guy and have no issues concealing a 19 or 17, and typically carry 8-14 hours a day in an Alien Gear 3.5 holster (for both 19 and 43). I want a minimum capacity of 12 rounds, otherwise I'll continue with the 43. Please feel free to share any y'all have for sale that would fit this need.

You need to find a quality gun that fits your hand. Sig, Glock, HK, CZ, and many others are all good weapons, but at the end of the day it's about shot placement.

Slowly made my way over to Sig from Glock (all unmodded) I started with the P226 and then had a few of those at one point. I sold my glock 17 and switched to the Sig 320 M17. I liked the grip a lot more, the stock trigger was better even on the new gen 5 trigger. I shot the Sig M17 slightly better than my gen 5 19. From a comfort standpoint and shootability standpoint I’ll take the poly Sig. it points natural, it has a fast trigger(light and short reset) I like that it has bigger sights in the rear for easy target acquisition.

They are all the best, it just depends on what your using them for you may want to find one suitable for your application. In my opinion a "gun" that go's BAAANG is effective. If thats what your looking for for Home defense, any of them will go bang. Its all about the Maintenance and care for the firearm and your training to effectively hit a target at distance to incapacitate your adversary.

If you looking to run billions of rounds, you want something that has the reliability behind it.

If your looking for a weekend "plinker", see the "BAAANG paragraph.

How'd I do guys and gals????

That Half Dollar grouping was under a controlled environment. When under pressure use the one you know...The Glock.

Lots of good options: sig, cz, s&w, beretta, and of course, glock. When you factor in the pressure behind 9mm projectiles, the array of available ammo, and the cost, I've switched over from.40 and.380 to all 9mm (except a 10mm for bear country Elk hunting)

I'm a big guy and have been super comfortable with a CZ P07 and Sig 229. Great shooters, accurate, and reliable. For the money, I'm completely satisfied.

The Sig P226 in 9mm is the absolute smoothest shooting 9mm I've ever shot/owned. Heavy to carry, but man is it butter. Like you though I shoot my Shield better than I ever shot my G19. And I carried it on duty for over 8 years. But when we transitioned to the G21, I could shoot that almost as good as a 1911. Might be a generation thing with the Glocks as my 19 was a Gen 2.5, and the 21 was a Gen 4. All I know is the G19 had the worst trigger I've ever handled.
