School Me on Airsoft

also,
I have been playing airsoft with the wife for 6 years now. I have JG guns as I have mentioned before and I have used the white, .20gram Crossman precision bb's from Walmart ($12/5000) the whole time and have never had a jam. do not let your kid put .12's in his gun, they are made of a different plastic to make weight and can shatter.
I have seen some posts on here that say only use the high dollar stuff, never use Walmart, this is bunk. the only reason to use the high dollar ammo is if you have an after market tightbore barrel installed (6.02mm instead of 6.05mm standard). otherwise, the Walmart Crossman .20g stuff is fine. it has been for me for the last 5 years and I put 4K-8K through my gun every time I play airsoft.jpgairsoft2.jpgairsoft3.jpg

I played a LOT back in the day. Go with a quality gun like a Tokyo Marui, ICS, Classic Army(not the sportline). Stay away from LIPO batteries off the bat, they kill gearboxes. Steer clear of KWA, they build their guns to shoot hot for the american market but they have a crazy high failure rate. Velocity isnt everything in airsoft. A Tokyo Marui gun that shoots 320fps will generally outrange a 400fps KWA.

My sons and I have three G&G AEG M4 rifles. We have had not had any problems with them and use them at least a few times a week, we kill the wood boring bees with them. We also have "wars" with them against each other. We have had the rifles over a year now and not a problem. We paid about 170 for each of them and we bought all three from Airsoft Atlanta. I found their prices to be fair and the staff knowledgeable and friendly. I also bought a M9 Beretta green gas pistol and love it. Again, from Airsoft Atlanta and the price was 150ish, but on par or cheaper than others. The price on their bb's is 10 buck a bag, and they ship. I found their prices to be fair and not a rip off. We only use the golden ball .20g bb's and have had no issues with jamming. We even use them to as a non-lethal way of chasing off the occasional stray dog. Just the sound of the bb's shaking in the mag will stop my own dogs from barking!
There are many more expensive guns you could by and no doubt better than these beginner guns we have, but we are happy with these and the brand seems to have a good reputation as well. The sport has really taken off and is for me, more fun and hurts less than paint ball fighting.
