I love a Leupold VX-3i 4.5-14-50 in a (LaRue) 1.5" high mount. Not too pricey but great for moderate distances, expectations and budgets. Cheers!

With no budget mentioned, any suggestion is near meaningless.
An LPVO will give you the most versatility and you can find them in any price range. Remember, you get what you pay for.

Tangent Theta 5-25, ZCO 420, S&B Short Dot, Vortex Razor gen 3 or Kahles K18i depending on how much magnification you want.
Don't have any experience but Blackhound optics out of Lawrenceville Ga. Looks promising. Packed with features and a lifetime guarantee it might be worth looking into. They have made OEM parts for a good while and have come out with their own line of optics. I would love to get my hands on one to take a look at. Of course there are the old stand by's but what's the fun in that.

Oh, and do it right by putting your scope in an appropriate mount like a Spuhr QDP

I've had most anything on one gun or another. Typically bolt guns. Have not taken the dive on a gen 3 razor or zco. Yet. Spent enough time behind a couple zco 527's and will grab one come bonus time.
The ones I mentioned are all considered to be best in class choices.
