Securing handguns in the car

If you can afford a gun, you can afford to secure it when it's not in your possession. If you don't want to secure it, then you can afford to lose it. You'll get no sympathy from me. No one ever has. I know three different people, a cop, a pastor, and a business man who have had guns stolen (house, car, and business) as well as a a disturbingly large number of reports on this site of people losing guns by way of theft. I have no sympathy for any of them. Tough luck.

So my $40,000 dollar Yukon with door LOCKS does not constitute "secure' in your little 3 page book? Would it also be my fault for not "securing" my vehicle if some punks broke the window and stole it, then hit someone in a crosswalk and killed them?
Where does my liability and responsibility end in your nirvana?

Where has anyone said anything about "fault" in any of this? I never said anything about who's "fault" it would be. I'm emphasizing that when you leave your gun in a car and it gets ripped off, TOUGH FLUCK! If you want to keep your stuff, you might want to consider the FACT that people break in to places and steal things. The OP has gone through an extra ordinary effort to insure that he does not become a statistic on the roster of vehicle gun thefts. I say BRAVO!!! Those who think a locked vehicle is "secure" are living in nirvana. I don't care what you paid for your ride to work.

Love the idea of your safe... My F150 has a lock on the center console that my car key will open, and i will usually put my gun in there, if i cant take it in where im going. I feel better with that than with nothing...

I was kind of thinking (which is dangerous) that the safe on that chain could do a helluva lot of damage to someone.
I was just thinking about how dangerous it would be to have that thing flying around inside the cab during an accident. I like the idea, but I'm not to sure about having a large heavy object basically unsecured riding around in the passenger compartment with me. (Says the guy who drives a vehicle full of large heavy items unsecured in the passenger compartment)

Look's pretty secure but I just keep mine on me at all times. If I have to leave it in the car cause I'm going into a government building or something along those lines then I guess I just take my chances.

Same here... I intentionally do not have any NRA, ODT, Browning, Timber Ghost or 2nd Amendment stickers on my car because I think thieves use these to identify cars that will have guns.
