Seed ticks

Was in the woods yesterday... Made sure I was extremely careful not to touch even one leaf. And even had 40% deet on my legs. And pants. Got to the truck and the bottom of my right leg was covered. Found myself in my underwear with a lighter and the bug spray can doing my best to kill those damn things. I think I will try the permethrin spray next. Is hard for me to think anything will work at this point.

If you don't want to use a repellent due to scent control, use high lace up waterproof boots with your pants tucked in them (cinch the boots up tight), wear a long sleeved long tailed shirt and keep it tucked in. Try to keep your hands off the ground and out of low brush.

Bring a change of cloths and large trash bags with you. Change your cloths when you get back to your car and bag the hunting cloths and boots. Using some bug spray on yourself after you have taken the hunting cloths off and before you put the clean cloths on is a little extra insurance to discourage any that may have gotten on you while changing.

The cloths go straight from the bag to the wash and scrub down the boots as soon as you take them out of the bag.

This isn't 100% effective, but it will keep you from getting swarmed. I've been tore up a few times by them, but not since I started doing this.

100% sure I was pulling seed ticks off of me. They were latched on good.

I'm going to invest in some knee high rubber boots and perminone. My buddy used that and didn't have 1 on him. Lucky me!

Wife was in the hospital 2 weeks ago with Lymes. We're in Crawford Co. (Roberta).
Now on a 30 day course of antibiotics.

Doctor started me on antibiotics for Lymes from the seed tick bites I had from 2 months ago. Blood test from that hasn't come back yet, but hopefully some news in the next couple days. I've been extremely fatigued, bad headaches, and have extreme muscle cramps all over my body for weeks. Keep waking up middle of the night in excruciating pain with my leg locked. Arms and hands keep cramping real bad at work too.

I've got to get another blood test done in a couple weeks to check for these recent bites. Doctor says it takes weeks for lymes disease to show up after bites.

This has been short of fun you could say.

Had tons of them on me once when I was a kid....had so many on me at one point my legs started to get numb. Duct tape and a shaving razor got those bastards off though. Since then I haven't had any though...which is weird. Seed Ticks are every bit of "Spawns of Satan"..that's for sure!

I haven't hunted in GA in years(My dad and I hunt in Kentucky), but for bug sprays..the OFF Backwoods stuff isn't terrible, smell wise.

Dang man, this does not sound good.
Hope you just have the damn flu or something and snap back quick enough to laugh about it.

I've been super lucky and haven't had any bites to brag about maybe because I haven't been walking through much tall grasses and have been mainly on pine straw covered deer paths and trails.

I went through this back in May/June. The cramps and fatigue were horrible. Also found out that I am allergic to Doxycycline, one of the first choices in antibiotics. I've had bad pain in my forearms, elbows and shoulders ever since. I hope your experience with tick-borne illness goes by quickly.
