Let's say that somehow a gun ban was passed and the govt. decided to seize all civilian owned guns.
Of course they'd try to get the military to intervene and go from house to house taking weapons, similar to what they did during Katrina, but do you really think it would be remotely successful?
What happens when news starts hitting the public media of soldiers getting shot by american civilians when trying to *forcefully* strip the civilians of their guns?
I'm sure tons and tons of civilians would give their guns up willingly, but I can also assure you there are many that would fight for their rights. If soldiers began being shot by their own countrymen, I doubt they'd continue to follow govt. orders.

Nope. Wrong read on this. When that starts happening they will use it as proof that gun owners are crazy and dangerous. Then they'll use it as an excuse to redouble their efforts to take guns (all of them) and give the military permission to use deadly force if they are resisted.
