Winchester 1895 in 405. I bought this rifle 3 years ago when ammo is hard to find and $100-120 box when you did. Didn’t shoot it much. This year Hornaday decided to finally make another run of ammo that sales for roughly $70 a box. So after acquiring a lifetime supply of ammo and reloading supplies I mounted a Lyman 21 peep sight made by Peabodyrifles. Located a grade IV stock off eBay that came of a 125th anniversary edition rifle. It’s needs refinishing and will be refinished after hunting season. Lastly mounted a recoil pad that will be replaced when the stock is refinished. Recoil and steel butt plate was a little on the brutal side. I don’t consider myself a recoil sensitive person either.

Should be fun. Just have to zero it this week with the peep sight

I don't really have a GA deer hunting rifle. I just push something into the role. Closest thing I have to a "hunting rifle" is a Ruger Marlin 1895 in 45/70. AR10 or Scar platform in 308 of 6.5 generally get the nod. So has a Noveske in 556, another in 300blk, an 8.6blk, etc have gotten the nod in the past as well. Deer at ranges I generally hunt in GA don't require anything special. Good optic, consistent rifle, proper projectile, and a decent shot are all that is needed.

I didn't get any hand-me-down or childhood rifles that I was attached to emotionally or have a cool story. Run what I bought

My wife's savage 110 in 350 legend, Vortex crossfire II 3X9X40. She shoots Winchester power point 180 grn.

And my Ruger Ranch 7.62x39. Also has a Vortex 3x9x40. I shoot 123grn hornady sst.
I use it for deer and pigs.

Our longest shot is 150 yards and everything else is a thicket, so these work out great for us. I really do more dragging my wife's deer out than I do shooting.

Picked this up a few days ago Interarms Mark X in .243. If anyone knows any info about it, please share!View attachment 9490214
Please verify but I believe:

It’s a Zastava barreled action from Serbia. They put it in a stock in England and a few companies imported them to the US under a couple names. Very cool commercial Mauser.

Managed to get to the range today… I got the trigger adjusted to my liking… then shot first 3 shot group at 100 yards.

I adjusted the gun a little more and shot another 3 shot group…

Made a few more adjustments and shot one more group and the MV settled down at 2675 with 150gr blk tip.
Very nice shooting rifle! Excellent grouping there Kemosabe. I will be using a AR-10 in either 6.5 Creedmoor or a AR-10 in 308 two self built rifles. This is a target from the 6.5 Creedmoor. This was a quick 5 shot group I did last week for something on a thread. The 308 is about the same or maybe a hair more open then the Creedmoor but I really haven't shot the real good ammo out of the .308 yet. I just scoped the 308 a few weeks ago but just ran some of the white box XM80C generic stuff.

I may be sporting a new Bergara 6.5 PRC this year if I can make up my mind on which model. I have the money put up for it. I just keep going from one model to the other. 🤣 I may just take this one out if I can't settle on one. It's a Howa 6.5 PRC and groups as well as the the other two I mentioned. Any one of them will get the job done.

Good luck this year boys. The time is close at hand!

Very Nice… can’t go wrong with Bergara. I have a 7PRC in a Crest and I had the 308 before the above rifle was finished.

Thanks man! There are several stamp marks on the action and I haven’t had a chance to try and look them all up.
