Have anyone had experience with the Shellshock 308 ammo, it's supposed to be going faster than regular 308 ammo with the same grain weight and how reliable is this ammo? Thanks
I'm hopping in just to say avoid Badlands munitions if you're looking for this. Guy just ****ed me over on my first order. Might make a separate thread on it. Going to have to chargeback.
Looking at this from a strict ballistic point of view, standard loadings of 308 with a 150gr pill will give you a velocity of about 2800fps (muzzle energy of around 2600 ft-lb)
These rounds claim to have a velocity of 3050fps, - so just under 10% faster - delivering a muzzle energy of around 3100 ft-lb
Consequently (subject to your own tests) you're getting about 15% more energy at the muzzle. Flatter shooting and more downrange retained energy.
That said, some of the "benefits" on the manufacturer's page simply aren't true. They claim the projectiles are lead-free, but they use Nosler Ballistic Tip projectiles - which are lead-core.
So I'd take their marketing materials with a pinch of salt.
Reliability? Standard rules apply. Get a couple boxes and try 'em out in your guns.
