If you want restrictions on newcomers there are other sites out there that do that, go sign up, but remember, you will be a noob and they will restrict you! Plus those sites are slow and boring. This site is great with the feedback score, you can chose if you want to do business or not and see the feedback before dealing.

I find 1911 forum to be a bit like that, slow and boring that is. They have many rules for moderation sake too. Basically restrictions. Maybe we should adopt a pirate code... More like guidelines than rules. :)

If there was a way that they HAD to read the forum rules one page at a time, and maybe at the end their account would be free to go. No super in depth rules, just the cliff notes, something about not being a prick. and some suggestions about price researching their firearm before they list their tactical SKS for $900 b/c its "sweet"

frak, even a 3 min instructional video produced by some of our forum stars, reading the rules out in PLAIN ENGRISH. After the video is over...BAM, training wheels come off.

I think that may ease the greenhorns in. oh, and NO TYPING ALL IN CAPS, BECAUSE CAPS ARE TACTICAL.

I wonder if vBulletin has a plug-in that would allow members to set the Post Count or the Feedback % or # Limit to "auto ignore" comments, pm's, etc. from members who don't meet an individually set criteria?

For instance... Csanino doesn't care much for the noobs, so he sets his Feedback % Limit to >90%, his Feedback # to >5 and Post Count to >100. Then Csanino wouldn't receive any comments on his threads, see posts, pm's, etc. from other members who don't meet his criteria.

This way we can self govern ourselves and take advantage of technology and automation at the same time.
- Just a thought.

I dont think vBulletin is that fancy Dougie

n00bs just need to be educated.

n00b scenarios:
A lot of them get butthurt that their sweet tactical maverick 88 that they bought for $200 and added $250 worth of UTG bullsh!t isn't worth the $750 they thought it was, and get angry that no one will pay $2,000 for their $899 walmart special bushmaster AR with $200 worth of sweet Magpul accessories. I know the common rule for that is if you don't like the price, don't buy it. Prob is I WANT THE DAMN GUN, but for a normal price. This isn't Louisiana after the flood where a box of lucky charms cost $100.

Some of these guys come on here with bad attitudes already. They know it all, and low ball the **** out of you, then give you the 3rd degree b/c you wont take their peanuts offer for your gun b/c you should be honored that they will own it.

I was a n00b once, and I'm sure i still piss people off, but there are things about common courtesy and respect towards others that a lot of these guys just don't get.

Now, if someone wants to join just to pawn off all their guns and split after they are done, no problem with that! a forum named outdoors trader means WE WANT GUN STUFF! a by-product of this form are friendships formed from meets with like-minded individuals, and that's great too.

I guess I'm done

Sir, that is outstanding thought. Let technology weed out the BS ahead of time

All restricting does is cause another problem. I'm fairly new here and if I would have had to make a certain amount of posts or had to be a member for X number of months I would have turned right back around and walked out the door.

There may be a guy out there with hundreds of guns that's honest and conducts himself like any member here would with great feeeback but just found out about this site and joins. He's got a ton of guns, he's honest, and he prices them dirt cheap. If he's restricted then that means I miss out on a potentially good deal.

I can also usually get a pretty good feel just by exchanging a few pm's or txt if the guy is a flake or not.....

I agree with this 100%, I am a member of many other gun forums and i don,t post much on them and this is why,................In jan I will be in full swing as a PICKER, I will be buying and selling stuff to support my gun collection rebuild project, I can sell S&W stuff for big bucks on one site i am a member of so that is why i am a member there, and the same with other brand items, and i am even a Hi Point forum member (big shock) but I am building my Reputation as a seller on the other sites like i have here, So I think it is great that someone can come here and sell something right away.

Things sells on here because of the non posting people... If there was restrictions, your stuff won't sell or will you find good deals from noobs that don't know. Keep it as it is. Craigslist? I think not unless they want trouble from law abiding carrying citizens.
