my buddies make them pretty quick and easy
so the cost of kydex material plus a bit of their time, and they aint earning 11 an hour ill tell ya that
id pay 20 or 30 at most

ya, but i think the allure of kydex is its cheap and easy to form

and my buddies do it for a hobby. so i figure the cost of material plus what they would make in an hour or two (they work in firearms retail, so between 8-12 an hour at most)

A friend and I were looking into setting up our own kydex operation on the side, just to make holsters for us and our circle of friends. There's actually a good bit more to it than just the cost of kydex. Ovens, presses, bench grinder, and lots of blue guns for starters if you want to make lots of holsters. Plus a dedicated work area, and then factor in the time spent forming and finishing. If you just wanted to make a handful of holsters for you and your buddies without worrying about profits, then yeah, I guess 20 or 30 bucks would cover costs. If you intend to do it full time and for profit, then 50ish bucks is really not unreasonable.
So as a paralegal you make $10 an hour right?
I have a formula as to how I figure my pricing which is very fair. As far as 20 to 30 bucks for a holster, I'm not getting out of bed for that. Materials seem cheap until you buy everything that you need. Yes you can make some things yourself, but not all of it.
There is a learning curve as well as to what works and doesn't work. When first starting out, you'll throw a bunch out.
