They're the same as the Russian ones, load from the top. They're not as bulky as the Chinese rear loaded drums but do take longer to load..

Yes, it was the gas block, it was set up for a 16” barrel and the gunsmith fixed it

The Restrictor plug will do it everytime. Glad you got it squared away.
