I have a friend who's mother had $18000+ of silver kitchenware stolen. I also had a neighbor who had silverware stolen except the butterknives seems the thug knew something about the handles contain something of little value.
That is bound to happen with this economy and high silver prices. Sounds like someone new your mother had that silver before they ever broke in. Just a thought.
