I only have a couple of S&W revolvers so nothing to really compare it to. Just thought it was interesting. Maybe the frames for the 4 and 5 are the same and this one is an early 5. They may have just stamped over the 4 when they changed model.
Overstamps are a known thing on S&W revolvers.
As said above, it's possible that you have an early -5, built on a frame that had already been stamped with a -4.
It's possible that the employee doing the stamp made a mistake, and corrected it with an overstamp.
Give us the first part of the serial number and we can see when it was made, unless you're capable of doing that. Just replace the last 2-3 numbers with the letter X, that'll give us enough to look it up.

I believe the s/n starts with 200k then 3 digits
If it starts with “200K”, then it was made in 1982. The -5 series started in 1982. So, it’s possible that you have frame that was originally planned to be built into a -4, but was used for a -5.

Yea I can see it's not pinned, so it's an early -5
