the A1 with the hex receiver is very nice, the older style I understand had some fitting issues with the bolt and receiver after time. You're welcome to take a look at it if you like, nowhere around here to shoot it though.

So I started looking at 50 cals

I shot a 50 call called the grizzly big bore when I was maybe 13, my footprints are probably still in the dirt there.
The 50cal community is awesome, just wish I had the money to join it. Their competitions are extremely long range so it seems like lot of fun, just wait till you pay for the optic to put on it.

I live a little further south, but if I plan on coming up that way, I will deff give you a shout and take a look.
I can see it being very expensive, but whenever that deal pops up for one, I think I'm going to try to snatch it if at all possible. I have been very eager to start playing with long range and a remmie 700 would be cool, but oh man, what a 50 would do

I've shot them but at 5 plus bucks a round... Ouch. Very cool round and platform. Ain't much you can't do with a nifty fifty.
For whats it worth, I've spent a few days on the range behind a M107, for a semi auto gun that hits man size targets, and can be used for hard target interdiction, at a 1000 meters or more, its hard to beat...
I'm in the same boat, I've got rounds that I paid close to $9 a round for (APIT), and I've got some Lake City 750gr ball that I only have about $3.50 a piece into. It's also not a gun you burn through 30 rounds in 30 seconds. It's more like 1 round every few minutes at most. Sometimes 1 round every half hour, depending on distance and what you're doing
watch these utube vids (Parts 1-11). i am shopping for a 50BMG too and from what i have read and seen i am leaning toward the AR50A1B.
