So, is NIL obsolete now in College Athletics?

My understanding is salary cap set at 20 million so NIL will definitely still have a place as well. I'm fine with it tbh, pay the kids, put more restrictions on the portal.

I'm at the point where I feel like collegiate sports are ruined. Transfers out of control, no more kids going to play for a winning school or coach, but whoever is willing to pay them the most. Already seeing athletes suing schools/coaches too for not getting money promised. It's gotten out of hand and I think it's too late to reel it all back in. The gates have been opened. The playoff/bowl games this last football season reflected that. Kids transferred or just sat out of bowl games because they don't care about winning. Bunch of selfish a-holes.

Also, lets not forget, we had backup QBs(Arch Manning) making MORE money than professional starting QBs who took their team to the NFC championship two years in a row and one SB(Brock Purdy). That's crazy to me.

To add to my rant. These kids are also still getting full ride scholarships while getting NIL and about to get paid by the schools. While everyone else has to take out loans or earn academic scholarships. I understand that athletics bring big money to the schools, but I don't know if I like that they still get full scholarships, and get paid.

I always thought it was dumb to punish the players for making $$ from their likeness, guys that made money from autographs, jerseys, or commercials, stuff like that. I'm good with that. It's all this donor/booster money and stuff that's gotten out of hand.
