So, is NIL obsolete now in College Athletics?

Good coaches draw and keep good players. With the exception of Pop, very little talent has transferred out of UGA that will be missed. Kids like Burton leave because they were further down the depth chart than they wanted to be. Again, portal issue not money issue. Good coaches will still stomp through a season with a bunch of 3-4 stars. Kirby won 2 nattys with a walk on. Let the five stars go where they want, half of them turn out to be mid at best. Coaches still win the game at the collegiate level.
People always say that about the talent that wont be missed when guys leave, then you bring up a point that disproves it like walkons. Exactly, UGA won 2 nattys with a walk on. Guess what the NCAA wants to do with this new compensation model? If this happens, guys like Stetson Bennet will have never been heard of. Again, the system is broken and seems to be trying to go straight to nothing but star NIL/NCAA paid athletes. This is going to hurt the guys like Bennet and the like who worked hard and earned their spot, vs some kid ranked high out of HS that a team is willing to spend millions to get only for them to be a bust.

I think the reason most southern folks have gravitated towards college ball is that until the 1990s. The states of Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas and Florida had exactly 3 NFL teams to choose from. Falcons, Saints and Dolphins. None of which were 30 years old. One which was in Miami so it was so far from most of the rural south as to be a foreign country. So really 2. And they both sucked (that hasn’t changed much)

Don't forget the Bucs!!

SC vs LSU today was one of the best baseball games I've seen in a while. Congrats TIGERS!!!
That was one of the craziest most bizarre endings I have ever seen!
My boys are on a tear. A few short weeks ago they weren't even going to make the SEC tournament much less the NCAA. Hope they can keep it up!

Karma got it right in the end. That stealing home call was the worst I have seen in a long while. Credit to LSU for never giving up. Could be another WS repeat if they stay this hot.

Nah, unfortunately they don't have the pitching to repeat. But I bet the jello shot maker in Omaha is getting pretty nervous right now.
