So it would appear gunsmith isn't an acceptable occupation...

It is a surprise to me that they let your wife be a part of the program, but not you. I think there are a lot of liberals in the public school system, but not all. There are plenty of conservative, gun loving teachers and administrators. Now, my opinion of a lot of administrators is not very high, but I do think there are some who would want you to talk about gunsmithing, but have been told from the higher-ups that it is not appropriate. The superintendent is the place to start with your quest to get some of these issues resolved. Just my 2 cents worth.

in their "liberal democrat" eyes a police officer is a part of the government and the only people qualified to own guns due to their professional training, and us civilian gun owners are just a bunch of loons who shoot anything that moves without thinking about it and are just paranoid conspiracy theorists (not saying all democrats are like that but most are)

new yorks police officers are prime example of this view sure they have the one of the lowest accuracy rating in the u.s but they were professionally trained and certified by the government to carry and use a firearms so they can carry

Even beyond all that... It's still an occupation that is neither illegal, immoral, nor unethical? It requires federal licensing, and my credentials of years gone by should have spoken volumes.

Not so much "fight", as make sure he knows I follow through. See, he has a chain of command, and he made this decision. I am one of those people who has no problem with talking to each and every person above him, my Senator, and State Rep.

i understand, let me know i you need support

I think its actually sad on the part of the Principle. To cast judgement on behalf of "some of the parents" based on what they might think and deny you the chance to share your trade is really just the most spineless of liberal BS.

Gunsmithing is a honest and difficult trade to be successful in. It's similar to a watchmaker in a lot of ways.

All I can do is shake my head and wonder how the **** do we solve the problem we have with these types of people before they've completely brainwashed our kids? Sad, just sad.

I was in the 4H and actively participated in the marksman competition, which was hosted through the school system. To associate you or your profession with something that we don't want our children knowing or understanding of is quite frankly absurd. Not only does your experience (law enforcement, military, firearms instructor) qualify you for this industry, it more than qualifies you for the profession of a gunsmith and I couldn’t think of anyone better I’d like to speak to my kid about your career. We’ll throw our own career day at your shop and all bring our kids.  How’s that sound? Who’s in?
