So much complaining about "Noobs" and in general

I think we just have a sort of perfect storm going right now, and especially in the last month or so. Gun classifieds site--> Gun scare--> Higher prices--> Influx of new members--> New members sell at the higher prices--> Old members ***** about it :D

I think it'll chill if the gun situation in the country calms down.

Yes, but the "asshats" will still be "asshats".

I think most members here see things the same as me. There is a difference between "Noobs" and "New members". Its not to do with post count but your actions.

A "Noob" is someone who jumps on here with no introduction, no thought to even glance at the rules or learn forum ediqute. They post there grossly overpriced (even for this market) crap and lowball everyone else and then break deals and dont keep there word. They make no attempt to engauge other members and be a part of the community. They see our forum as nothing more than Craigslist for guns.

A "New member" is someone who not only comes here to buy, sell, and trade in a fair and honorable manner But also is here to engauge other members, make friends, and contribute to the community.

New members are always welcomed and appriciated. Noobs are not. Unfortunately recent events have created a flood of both so it has made it harder for New Members to set themselves apart from the noobs.
Most members try to pay attention to who is posting what so we can tell the difference between who to befriend and who to ignore.

I took a chance recently on a new person. His first post was a pm to me wanting to buy an AK. He was on time, payed my asking price, and was a great guy and great new member. I gave him some advise on how to set himself apart from the noobs and gave him +1 feedback and even a friend request to help with that.

I guess that the fact is that our little tea party was a little upset BEFORE all of this started and NOW it is really upset...What happens from here on out in how we conduct OURSELVES on this site is largely up to US...

I look at feedback scores before I start to set up a deal, who they have dealt with, comments, before making an offer. If it is someone without feedback I go OUT OF MY way to make sure I communicate with them and make sure they do the same....

Character is not dependent on post count but in how they conduct themselves....

Excellent post... I have dealt with some new guys recently and all 100% positive. I would add to the "noob" category, is when a new member jumps into conversations with strong and or douchey comments or goes after a long time member. The old timers here have "history" including trading / selling / buying / meeting other members... some are clearly knowlegable about firearms, gunsmithing, etc. For new members, sit back for while, read what others have to say, make some trades, help others with your expertise before flaunting it by claiming to be the king of long distance shooting, gunsmithing, etc. If I have never heard of you and you are on to say that my AR sucks (for example)... you are not making any friends.

Hell, some noob went after Soviet the other day and it pissed me off... and another new member went on my ignore list :)

Yes. I am friends with several members that my trade was their first or 2nd. I still remember all my first trades.

Had they not been positive experiences, I may not have stayed.

I am happy to see that MOST members feel this way. I think it's important that we continue to express this and continue positive growth. The trolls and adult children will continue to play their games in a method to avoid serious life in general.

Acually, met a Kilo19 today. Great guy.

Keep cool and Chive On
