You are not a slave or at least I assume.

You have to decide if you want to stay with the company. You are in charge of your own destiny.

I'm unsure about it. I want to stay in Atlanta, but if I get re-located I may try it out. Like I said, worst case scenario, I tell them to shove it, move back here and find a new job.

Let me change "have to" to "decide to". It's my choice, and I'm not sure what I'll do if faced with that situation. It would be hard to say no to the pay though. You gonna pay me what I'm making here to work for you?

I don't really give a **** what you do, but you are not forced to do anything. If your convictions are strong enough, you will find yourself nowhere else besides the comfy confines of Dixie.

If your convictions are strong enough, you'll find yourself living wherever works best for you. Your career may be better served to stick with your current company, and you might find California to your liking.

We already have an office there, and they filled a bunch of positions here in Atlanta without giving consideration to the staff that is already here. They only have enough positions for half of the people here to move to the new Atlanta location, the rest have to go to Irvine. If you don't get Atlanta as your first pick and choose not to go to Irvine, you'll get relocated to NYC, Chicago, or some place in Michigan near Detroit.

I'll take Irvine over any of those, because at least it doesn't rain much and did I mention I HATE cold weather. It comes with a healthy pay increase, but it's a wash due to cost of living difference.

Worst case scenario:

1) I say "go **** yourselves, I quit"
2) Live in Newport Beach for a year and see how I like it. If I don't, I say "I hate this ****, go **** yourselves, I quit" and move back to Atlanta.

If they plan to increase your salary so you have the same cost of living as you do here in GA then maybe. If not then option (1) above. I am originally from CA and will never go back! Everything is more in CA. More expensive, more taxes, more regulations and more crime. There are NO positives for moving there! They charge for grocery store paper bags and plastic is outlawed for god's sake. It will cost you more than a few dollars just to bring your GA vehicles across the CA state line to register and get CA driver's license. Oh and state inspection along with smog as well. If I remember correctly you have to register your guns as well Look for a new job.
