So the AK-47 is pre-historic and outdated for battle?

Pretty crafty bias towards the AR but oops....

When you are shooting 200 yards, it generally helps to make sure your rear site is set on the 200 yard marker so all your shots dont hit low for a test on national TV. :)

This is quite a thread and have enjoyed following...To date I have AKs, or 7.62 x 39 shoorters... Now have 4 of them.... Seriously looking at augmenting with an AK 74 or 2.... I am thinking the AK 74 maybe somewhat between the AK and the AR.... Accurracy range to the 400 yards vs maybe 200 yards with the AK...

lost all interest in the 7.62x39. I still have a ton of 5.45x39 but I also own an AR in that caliber. Perhaps the 7.62x39 will spark my interest again one day. For now though, I am done with it.

I can't understand why? They are cheap and fun to shoot and it is still a great platform. Even the SKS is a blast to shoot and relatively inexpensive. I have two SKS's because they are cheaper than AK's and just as reliable imo. The weight is a factor for some but personally I like weight on a rifle. AR's are fun to tinker with and the sky's the limit for accesorizing. They are also fun to shoot and a bit more accurate at a longer range. Still, I just don't see any real advantage with the AR at most ranges and the 7.62x39 has more stopping power.

Bulgarian 5.56 AK is the ideal platform for me. AK reliability combined with 5.56 ammo availability (or less potential for unavailability). Only real weakness is hard to find/expensive mags, but I already have a healthy supply. I don't have anything against ARs, just like AKs better.

I have seen many comparisons between the AR (5.56) and the AK 47 (7.62), but until the last few days, I never considered the AK 74 (5.45).... Over the couple days, I looked at some data and reviews of the 5.45 and I am thinking... more accurate than the 7.62, but still not as accurate as the AR.... I love the AK platform and am thinking that I also include the AK 74 in my inventory....

And I love those 5.45 ammo prices.....
