I dont know if you have a kindle but i just finished a 3 book series from Michael Kroft. the first book "On Herring Cove Rd: Mr.Rosen and his 43 lb anxiety" was a a good book. The next two as well.

Sharpe's Rifles series is great! The Saxon Stories is good as well.

Both written by Bernard Cornwell.
