"Lobby"?

The area between the front door and the "service" counter, P.O. box access. Closed at 5 pm due to vandalism, theft and urban outdoorsmen relieving themselves. See karnut video above. Outside drop boxes taped shut around here.

I didn't know the USPS served third world countries like Douglasville...

If it absolutely, positively has to be there........Some day........

I stopped by to drop off some outgoing letters yesterday and they had a sign on the door that the "lobby" would close daily at 5pm during the week and 3pm on Saturday. You have to go into the lobby to use the mail drop. They have sealed up the outside drive up box so if you can't make it there before the lobby closes then you aren't mailing a letter. I've gotten used to dropping by late in the evening after I pay bills and such since I don't want to put outgoing mail in my mailbox.

I don't know if this is going on at other post offices but is pretty strange behavior. All I can think is that they might have had some people in later in the evening tearing stuff up or trying to fish mail out of the drop box. This also means that people who have mail boxes there aren't going to be able to get in to check their mail after hours.
