Sometimes Loud Pipes Don't Save Lives

It just warms my heart to see that our troops have such great quality moving TARGET PRACTICE.

And on a serious note,

the friggin' airheads in the Air Force that don't want anything that 's not a $50 million per aircraft fighter want to ground the A10, and there is absolutely NOTHING in the American arsenal that can play this role.

Try doing this in an F22 or F35.

Try to see how excited ground troops get over the multi-mission (doesn't work) F35 and the A10. Ask them which one they would rather have on station.

Those friggin' airheads in the Air Force that never wanted it in the first place.
I remember when it was said that the only reason it looks the was it does (slow, heavy and uuggllyy, according to those people) was because it was made by vendors in each of the 50 states.
But, when it was actually used in combat, they realized "hey, this thing is actually useful". Just like about every other Air Force asset.
The B-52 was a dog for a long time. The early versions would actually have the entire tail assembly fall off in flight. Then came Vietnam...
