Go pick yourself up some Creamed chipped beef from Stouffers. Put it on some toasted bread. You will not be disappointed.

Did the dining facility not have SOS when you joined? That was the best part of breakfast but I would not call it healthy. It may have been removed.

Chipped beef and gravy on toast. My mom used to call it **** on a shingle. It was good eatin

Dude, it's easy . . .

Make a roux (gravy) with flour, butter, and water (add cream if y'all's wealthy).

Soak the beef for a couple hours before adding. Don't forget the frozen peas!

In 75 when I joined the Marines until sometime in late 76 in every chow hall and on every ship SOS was chipped beef.

Sometime in 76 till I got out in 82 it was ground beef and we never saw the chipped beef again. Not once. The witch of it is it's the kind of thing you get a real hankering for once in a while.
