Spelling Matters

Don't get me wrong I hate that **** too. It's a damn good thing we won that war
I agree. And I don't mind being correct up to a point. But some folks just go too far with it. Mishaco who I love watching pronounces it "Walter" instead of including the H like we do over here . But then he throws the damn H back in when he says "Shteyer AUG".
When I worked for the VW/Audi mechanic he would pronounce it "SHTUT- Gart". That kinda **** just comes across as pretentious to me. But I guess some people want to be 110% correct.

Now I'm no Eurotrash transplant, but I did take two years of German in High School. It is indeed not pronounced "sawyer". I think the rampant mispronunciation of words in foreign languages, not to mention words in the English language like the ones you mentioned, just makes Americans look even more uneducated. Too bad our education system is doing too much to help that.
same same 3 years in HS.

Well currently public education is way more concerned with feelings and activism to actually teach useful things to the kids.
I ordered German lessons on CD back around 2011 or so but didn't get very far. I think I actually picked up more of it from the Rammstein videos with captioning that I was watching at the time. I read a comment once that said "If French is the language of love them German is the language of aggression." And when you hear German being spoken that makes sense.

I'm 90% sure he'll probably turn around and say Walther with the W instead of the V
Yes he did in fact use the V pronunciation. Then there is the revolver from EAA known as the Windocator. Been wanting one for years but I don't wanna go in the gun shop and sound like an ignorant Bubba OR and uppity language teacher.

As long as we're bitching about spelling and grammar ( not that I'm any kinda expert) I can't recall how many times I've seen Camaro spelled with an E as in CamEro. If you're posting an ad to sell it then you have the damn car right there with you. But I guess Camaro idiots spell it the same way they pronounce it.

Falls into the category of who gives a flying f##k.
We're Americans, don't care what others think. The world would be speaking Japanese and/or German if not for our fathers and grandfathers.

Quite accurate 🤣
Similar sentiment:
Heaven is where the police are British, the chefs Italian, the mechanics German, the lovers French, and it is all organized by the Swiss.
Hell is where the police are German, the chefs are British, the mechanics French, the lovers Swiss, and it is all organized by the Italians.
