Sure I do, but it comes second to the walk. Debating spiritual issues on a message forum isn't in the same league as ministering to someone in person who REALLY needs it. And for the record, the church building has turned into a theatrical stage so I put little stock in the Sunday building experience. My personal walk is a relationship, not a 1 day event.

At any rate, I come here to trade guns, not debate spiritual issues so I am out. Carry on.

x2

Looks like we may need an old church ritual here, pass the plate boys....looks like the moderators will be putting in some overtime! Seems rather combative already!

not combative, there are people who are shut ins . that you may never see in our lifetime, maybe fire arms forums are the medium to which they hear something uplifting. so give it a shot pun intended . i respect ccw and his input even though i have never met him personally . i think it can work shoot ill talk religion guns and politics in walmart there is never a bad place for talk especially about god

I am officially changing my vote to NO ................based on the threads for these things and the discussion, debate and arguments they have already generated

if people wanna talk politics and religion they can go back over to woodys an do it .............or some other forum ..

they can even start their own group here that people can sign up for and only they can get in there and wail on each other ;(

I agree with most everything CCW has stated so far. Here is my take as a new member to this group:

- Being evangelical on a message board is not the same as witnessing in person. If you feel the need to discuss religion on the Internet, find a faith-based forum.

- If you STILL feel like you have to post about your faith on this message board, post it in the General Discussion forum!! Last time I checked this was not against the rules.

- Message board discussions IMHO are about as close to verbal incontinence as you can get; by nature they are abrasive. Adding religious discussions to the mix most always causes things to go down hill.

- Seeing as how this is the South, and a GA-based forum, I don't foresee a big mixture of faiths to be present. This makes the forum appear to be Christ-serving.

- Related to the previous point, with the majority of members who would participate in these discussion being Christian, I foresee a VERY narrow ally of participation for anyone non-Christian. With the nature of a group, the majority rules. There goes Freedom of Religion and the constitutional argument.

- I don't doubt the tolerance of anyone that has posted so far, but the first time someone makes a thread saying "God kills babies" or something of the like the proverbial crap will hit the fan. Trolls will come from the woodwork.

- I use the New Posts feature to view this site, not the traditional Forum View. This is especially helpful here, since there is not a Bump system for updating threads. This means if I don't want to read a religious discussion I have to be sure to view the forum category and sub-category before I view a thread, which I don't always do (actually, I very rarely ever do. I just read and re-read a thread about a Citizen eco-drive wristwatch looking for an asking price until I noticed it was in the gear reviews section :D ). If I don't I could be lured into reading a religious testimonial with the title of "Awesome thing happened today!" or something of the like, which could harm my delicate non-religious sensibilities.

- Banning a person from the Religion forum only is treacherous. Without a VERY clear set of rules on which to base a ban, anything can (and will) go. You will also need a Moderator of the most tolerant, non-religious, non-partial variety that views all discussions equally regardless of who called who's God a baby killer. This will be hard to find in GA.

I should probably say at this point that if there was a forum here specifically for religious talks, I would read it, and probably respond when I felt the need, using my usual style of witty remarks backed with facts and a peppering of opinion. I would also not have reservations about calling someone's God a baby killer, a murderer, a liar, completely false, an apparition of the need of the people, a crutch, equal to alcohol on the psyche, universal and equal among all religions, trite, snide, completely fabricated from mankind's need for answers, historically brutal, responsible for X number of deaths, funny looking, without merit or reason, small in the pants, etc.

just as in any other forum or subforum on this site. the potential for any one forum to be volitile. is allways present wheather we are talking about god, or whos the best chuck norris, or bruce lee , only thing different is the subject !!!

It was stated before, but people don't regularly base their entire life, family, and 10% of their income on Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee. I do, but most other people don't.
