No problem with a Maverick. Just a budget Mossberg. The gun will probably outlast you.

No hate, but its nor a high dollar rifle, its a beater gun. Personally I wouldn't even paint it.
Bbq paint is good stuff for high temp.

BBQ paint, let it sun dry and then use a heat gun or hot hair dryer. I just did a ratty barrel for a mauser, BBQ and then hit it with Minwax satin poly, solid finish, looks great.
have nate at Fort Daniel cerakote it for you to bring the value up
Go to a auto parts store and buy a spray can of heat resistant engine paint, dries "harder" than other spray paints and as the name implies "heat resistant" for wide temperature swings, very durable. Price is very reasonable, not much more than ordinary krylon.
