Sunday we saved this little one from a cat in my back yard. About three feet long.

This afternoon we saved this little one from the birds (wrens) in my front yard. They were giving him hell. He was too close to their nest. Maybe two feet long and feisty.

I never feel too bad about a snake's natural death (at the beak of a predator for example), but I do think people WAY over react to snakes and assume all are bad. When they kill them just 'cause, it really boils me. I was dropping off the kid that does my yard work at his apartment complex and there was a full-on retard festival going down on the side of his building. There was even the requisite tatted up ratchet (white) running around screaming, "OOoohhh...Rooohhhh.....Ruuuhhhhh....Rooooooo" and waving her arms hysterically. A skinny white kid with a damned ninjerin sword was whacking away at a snake on the ground and I couldn't stop him (he was to be the hero after all). I hope he was proud to have killed a harmless King snake.

Live and let live.

We have a natural aversion to snakes because way down in our brains we have fear of snakes hard wired in because the small critters we evolved from were the natural prey of them.

Some folks are more in touch with their lizard brain than others...
