Staccato

Just more people trying the 2011 style pistols. I will not be surprised if Smith, Ruger or Sig will come out with one. Usually these are range guns and most people will not carry one everyday. I have been thinking of one, but it will be a Tisa, Prodigy or Fusion Arms. It is just easier to sale a lower cost one if I don’t like it. The humble marksman on you tube really thinks in five years fewer people will be buying them. Staccato does have a lot of l.e contracts but most agencies will not pay that price for them and not being drop safe. The newest Stacato model uses Glock mags and is drop safe.

I think that we may also be seeing people who are worried about jobs and retirement portfolios. A 2-3k gun is an expensive gun in the safe for some people when you look at some of the other offerings out there. I personally like my P and have no plans to get rid of it.

Meh… I don’t subscribe to the opinion that 2011s are range toys. Thats kind of a silly comment.
I should’ve said it’s just a range toy for me. I’m not carrying a full size $4500 2011 when I have much smaller, lighter & cheaper options available. I’m sure plenty of people do carry them daily, and that’s great. Just not for me.

My only issue with the company is their current business model. That company was built on the backs of competition shooters. Tripp Research, Chip McCormick, Dave Skinner all became pretty wealthy from Virgil's design. USPSA and 3-Gun competitors were 99.9% of their business. When the company became employee-owned after Dave got sick, they installed a new CEO who only wanted to court military and LE contracts. Competitors were left out of their business model.

Since the patents on the modular 2011 design have expired, everyone with a CNC machine is making their own frames now and building guns. Staccato could've kept that business simply because most shooters are pretty "brand loyal".

I carry a c2, and shoot a P in competition. I think people sell these because they are expensive and they can get a chunk of money quickly in an economy that frankly isn't great. I could deal with trying to sell 3 or 4 maybe 5 guns to get 2k+ or just one gun that maybe they don't shoot a lot.
