Stockpiling Ammo

I have heard all the stories of different government and weather service stockpiling ammo,
this morning I heard on the radio that the US Postal service is placing an order for 2 billion rounds of small arms ammunition.
Anyone else hear anything about this?

2 billion. That's 40 million boxes of ammo in 50 round boxes. To get an idea the size this would be imagine this. Stack each box of 9mm end to end. If every box is 6 inches (or so long..prob a bit short) that's 3,788 MILES of ammo boxes. Sound plausible?

there are alot of stray dogs that postal carriers have to contend with.

USPS employs Postal Police, Postal Inspectors and Postal OIG special Agents. All of which carry firearms and must qualify and train with duty ammo.
