I would guess that DHS probably has 75,000 or so armed employees and that is not counting the Coast Guard. Most qualify 4 times a year probably shooting 100 rounds each per qualification. That's 30 million rounds a year at least for just one Department. I could see them purchasing several year's worth at a time. Doing the math with the other federal law enforcement agencies, it is not out of the question to imagine that the civilian side of the federal government might stockpile a billion rounds of ammo.

I have heard all the stories of different government and weather service stockpiling ammo,
this morning I heard on the radio that the US Postal service is placing an order for 2 billion rounds of small arms ammunition.
Anyone else hear anything about this?
