Stolen gun alert

So i did something stupid and my wifes car got towed. not the point of the story at all. so while it was in holding or whatever its called....i called the tow company to get the car back. they have a list of the stuff in the car but her springfield xd40 isnt on the list. magazine either. it was deff in there when she she parked it cause i put it in there myself. anyway, its been color filled in pink, has night sites, ambi mag release....i called the tow company, she said there was no gun....i told her her drivers are a bunch of damn crooks because the gun was deff there. she all but calls me a liar and hung up on me. so i called the sheriffs office and reported it stolen along with pics and serial numbers, and proof of the mods done to the gun. what else could i do?
some place outta covington or conyers.

Now that was a dummy story there!!! Someone being honest at a tow company!!!!! Yes officer I stole his gun out of his car, cause I'm a convicted felon and I can't buy one

Doubt it. Reality of the matter is the gun could end up in someones safe and no one would be the wiser. Where was the gun at? Locked in the glove box or just in a center console?

I would NOT have any further contact with the towing company. You're just giving them a warning to hide the pistol. You need to be talking to the investigator in your county that's in charge of property crime. Then give him your info and let him do his job. Meanwhile I'd be taking flyers to all the gun and pawn shops with the serial number and description of the custom work. Most honest pawn shops will let someone pawn the gun even if they know it's hot. That's because the person pawning it has to show a license/state issued ID and at that point they're signing their own warrant.
But really, don't try to talk to the towing outfit anymore. You won't do anything but give them a heads up.They'll act a lot different when the investigator shows up.

Sorry that someone took your pistol. Some towing company's drivers will steal whatever they can. Unfortunately the towing company will deny any wrong doing and defend their drivers. I got my clock cleaned back in the 80's near Columbus GA. They got everything out of my locked truck toolbox, tools, power tools, precision tools, a carton of cigarettes, a cassette tape box full of tapes, new Walls heavy jacket all from the front seat, my spare tire that was in the bed and they even took my beer cooler. I called the cops and asked them what to do about it. They said, well we can make a report of it but more than likely there was no way to prove who took it.
