Stopping for the night in a state that doesn't reciprocate

If you are traveling through a state that doesn't reciprocate with GA and you plan on staying at a hotel, does the law require the gun remain in the car? Or are you allowed to transport it to the room?

I am not asking what to do, only what the law says.

If I HAVE to bring it with me to a non recip state I usually keep the slide and frame in two separate locked boxes. If they do search and then search my bags then I want to be completely sure I'm not breaking any laws. Oh and no ammo in the car whatsoever. VA sucks

I don't speed, I hate the idea of paying the ticket and my insurance going up. Government already steals enough money from me, I don't plan to give them any more.

Depends on the state. Some states will put you in jail for having an empty shell casing in the car. Check georgiacarry.org and gerogiapacking.org for state by state laws.
