I'm constantly baffled by the stories I read online about people finding crazy good deals at their LGS or pawnshop, especially on rare pieces. Up to this point, I've considered this kind of event a thing of myth and legend. Prove me otherwise!

Share your greatest LGS/Pawnshop finds!

Edit: Make sure to include the year and location for context.

Ruger cmd 1911 new. 499.00. That’s the best I got
Well I think you've got me beat, best thing I've ever gotten was a unfired glock 17.5 FS police trade in for $450. Had glock night sights and no stupid embossment so I went for it. Not quite the deal of the century, but good enough to rationalize to myself.

Date: 2020 pre corona at Adventure outdoors

2012- krebs ak103k built off of a saiga 7.62x39 before krebs was known. It was a company he used to work for kalashnikov USA from Florida. Got this for $399 at a pawn shop here in athens.
2016- Franklin’s gun shop arsenal slr95 milled akm for $650 out the door lmao.
2016- fnh 5.7
2016- scar 17
$2700 for both
Can’t say where the last 2 came from or my friend the manager might still get fired.

1995: While working behind the counter at a LGS, a customer came in and wanted to trade his dead Dad’s “cowboy six shooter” for a “high cap 9”. He’s holding an early 1970’s Colt Python, 2.5” barrel, Royal Blue finish, unfired, in the box with the papers. I traded him straight up for a NIB Ruger P89 9mm with blued finish and 3 mags. I distinctly remember that at the time we were paying $259 wholesale for those Rugers.

The owner of the LGS let me buy the Python for $400. That was my daily carry gun for years, and my off-duty carry during my first several years as a cop. Eventually, someone offered me stupid money for it and I sold it.

I bought a Galil AR with a case of ammo and large ammo can full of mags for $700 in 1994. Sold it during the Clinton AWB for close to $3k.

About 5 years ago, went to a garage sale where the guy was selling everything in the house. Moved a curtain in the bedroom and found a Winchester 1300 Defender behind the curtain, box of shells on the floor next to it. Asked if it was for sale and how much. He says $50? I said does that include the shells? He says sure.
