Stupid Stuff? Stupid People!

A friend of mine is an Electrical Supervisor for EB and he was down on a boat troubleshooting a power panel when a Navigation Chief Petty Officer walked up and asked if we needed anything? My buddy asked him for a particular type of multimeter and told the Chief he could get one from the nuclear power electricians back aft, so off he goes in search of this meter. As soon as the Chief was out of sight my buddy starts laughing hysterically and I asked what was so funny? He says that Chief is going to be real pissed when he runs all the way back there and finds out there is no such thing. By the time the Chief made it back, the word had gotten around the boat of what he was looking for. The Chief ran back up to where we were just to tell both of us as we were laughing, F##K YOU GUYS!

I was first mate on a line boat back in the late 70's, they would send the college kids out as deckhands during the summer. We would have barge tows 1/2 mile long. So as many had no common sense whatsoever we would be at the head of the tow and would send them to look for Wire/Cable Stretchers. Some would walk the tow and boat for a 6 hour watch looking for something that don't exist. Quite a few would get off at the next port or Dam. Happen at least 50 times.

Working in restaurants we always made rookies change out the air in the walk in. We would have them take a garbage bag in and fill it up with air and come out and empty it over and over again.

We would also have them drain the hot water out of the coffee maker...There was a hot water line hooked up to it.

Installed a DDC control system in chicken hatchery in Alabama about 10 years ago, the guy that ran the hatchery told me it was the first time he had ever used a computer of any kind (The guy was probably late 60s or early 70s). I went over the system before I left and gave him my number in case he had any questions. About thirty minutes after I left I got a call from him, he exclaimed "the pointer thingy wan't go on top of the hatcher air handler picture". I told him to move the cursor to the top of the unit and he insisted that it wouldn't "go on top of the air handler picture". I told him to slide the mouse to the right....he told me that it was all the way at the edge of the desk and he didn't have any more room to move it!!!!

True story!!
I've had one like that too, guy didn't know what to do when the mouse reached the end of the mouse pad...

Once we needed more proper-sized drill bits for 10-32 NF taps, ordered from supply house, order arrived, they had sent 5/16" drill bits. We scratched our heads for a moment, and I deduced that they tried to reduce 10/32" down to 5/16".
