That would make it more bearable. Especially inside the perimeter.

My first trip to New York I was walking off the plane with all the other passengers. As we walked down the terminal hallway I could hear one of the little carts that carry the handicapped and elderly coming due to that beeping sound they make. There were a couple of guys walking next to me. One particularly loud with that stereotypical New York accent. As I heard the cart getting closer I moved over to the right. He kept walking in the dead center of the hallway talking to his buddy. I thought it kind of odd and though "He's not deaf as he's obviously talking to his friend but given how loud he's talking maybe he's just REALLY hard of hearing." Finally the young girl driving the cart gave a little beep on the horn. The guy then yelled, without turning around "I hear ya'! I'm walking here and have just as much right to this space as you do! You can just wait!" The girl just sort of shrugged her shoulders as her very elderly passenger and the one with the broken leg just sat there.apples to oranges

You know - the restraining order from the thing with the hot school lunch lady from way back.

I'm not sure I follow your first part exactly but it sounds like your issue is with a an intersection 1/2 mile away that is not designed to handle peak volume. Not sure what to say there. I suppose your proposal is to let the traffic back up in the parking lot instead of the street and instead of having a handful of merges leaving the parking lot have hundreds? I had asked how many times this happens. You are always going down this road at the same time on Sunday morning? I have traffic backups everyday on my commute. I adjust my time and travel route to minimize it.
I made the assumption an officer directing traffic was doing so safely. Sorry if that's an incorrect assumption.
OK, I suppose if that is the issue, I assume the answer is, you don't. If you broke any other laws in the process of going around them, that would be a separate issue of course.There isnt any one post that contains the full info, so I should probably consolidate a little.
This is a large church/large parking lot with many people and cars. It fronts a rural two lane road with a light to moderate traffic flow. The road is flat for miles and both parking lot entrances have good visibility in either direction. Thete are proper turn and acceleration lanes at the entrances. The area is comprised of subdivisions and houses on larger tracts of land and it's relatively quiet.
I'll add this - all of us can name a road or intersection that we wish the county would address because of obvious safety issues. The area I'm talking about wouldn't make that list.
It isnt provable, but its obvious to me that the church members grew tired of the long wait leaving the parking lot, so they decided to block traffic the make their own lives easier. On occasion it appears to be off duty officers, other times its a random church member in a suit and a security vest stepping into the road and halting traffic. It doesn't enrage me or change my life, it's just irritating when I occasionally get caught in it, and sometimes I am tempted to (safely) drive around the guy and keep going. My main question has been - why do o have to stop for any random person who steps into traffic and throws up a halting hand?
