I read years ago on another forum about taking the 454 casull Super Redhawk cylinder and transplanting it into a regular Redhawk in 45 colt. I thought if I ever ran across a 454 cylinder I would try it. Several months back I ran across a 454 cylinder and bought it. After months of sitting in the safe, today was the day for an operation. In order to do the swap you have to use the cylinder crane from the original 45 colt cylinder but once that’s done its a drop in conversion. I kind of wish I had used my 45 acp/ 45 Colt Redhawk for the upgrade but it has the 4.25” barrel and I think the 5.5” barrel carries better. Now to find some 454 shells to try it out. I shot a few cowboy loads out of it to try it out.
