SWAT breaks down door for student loan

Truly disgusting. I hope that man makes a million dollars off the case and every one of those officers loses their badges. Although we all know that will never happen.

The power of our federal government is completely out of control and nobody even seems to realize it. 99% of the American public are just being obedient little subjects marching happily down the road to socialism.

It's socialism to execute a warrant for fraud? Fraud is a crime, is it not? This wasn't about non-payment of a loan...

id be interested to know how the dept of EDUCATION got this power

Did you read this one:

update from ED
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/06/09...est=latestnews

Dept of Education now says it was an investigation into fraud.

Either way, how the heck can the Dept of Education issue a warrant?? They say they issue about 35 a year.

or this one:

I think their OIG applied for them just like any other law enforcement agency. The story makes a little more sense now.

No, but I dont like the idea of the freaking DOE being able to kick down doors for any reason. Its not like they were busting a meth lab.

Fraud is a crime, is it not?

Mr. Dunkel, two questions:
1. Are you comfortable with warrants being served (doors being kicked in) for non-violent crimes?
2. What would have happened at your house if they had accidentally gotten the wrong door?

I fear that for many of us, this DOE mistake would have ended in a substantially more horrible tragedy as we would have thought our homes were under attack, & we would have tried to defend our kids.

Well those are two different questions. Generally speaking, I'm against overly aggressive law enforcement. But whether it's the DOE (which needs to go away anyway) or anyone else that's being defrauded, some sort of LEO response is warranted.

My whole point here is not about what type of response there should have been. It seemed that people were confused about what exactly was going on here. It was not the DOE just sending out armed agents to collect a delinquent student loan. There was an actual crime committed.

The cops are training with the unarmed citizen to see if they can handle that. If they can beat down unarmed citizens without too much trouble, then they will go after some street punks and maybe graduate to real criminals in a few years.

A cop gets paid the same whether they are getting shot, cut, beat down or eating donuts and drinking coffee. Then again you could just stick arresting sheeple of society.
