Switching from 5.56 to .300AAC

School me gents.

If I have a 10.5" AR pistol thingy and I wanna shoot the big bad .300AAC out of it. What all do I need to change?

Barrel?
BCG?
Sex change?

Barrel. Some mags do not do well with subs, but there are 300bo mags that have the forward rib adjusted so the long and heavy subs feed fine.

eta: you want pistol gas, not carbine for your 300

So does that mean a carbine length gas system is not ideal for .300AAC?

Pistol gas works better in short barrels with subs. If you are going 16 inches on the barrel, carbine gas can be made to work with subs unsuppressed, but why go to 300bo if you are not going to use a suppressor?

With supersonic loads, gas is not a problem.

300BLK was created for and shines in short suppressed applications. Optimum barrel length is 7" give or take .5'' running pistol length gas. Ammo (Subs) is a tad on the expensive side unless you reload.
