I've been very impressed w/ the S&W M&P .45C. The head Instructor (behind Bill) at Rogers School carries one.

It's the same size as a G-19/23. As much as I like my Glocks, in .45, I actually like the Smith better than the 30SF although I don't "want" too.
Tell you what Monte. If you need some help deciding, see if you can buy 5 mags in one month for under 100$.. Did it for me.

I love mine. I'm yet to find anything I'd rather have for an EDC.

When I finally decided to get out of .45 altogther & consolidate to 9mm & .40 for semi-autos, I had a hard time moving the 10 mags. that I had already bought for it.
Very nice gun though.

For me, there's only one compact .45...my unicorn...my P245. Yeah, it's a little heavier than the plastic guns and standard mags are 6 rounds, but that's ok. With the same feel, controls, magazines, holsters, etc as my primary sidearm, a P220, it just makes sense.

I carried a G30 daily for a couple of years but have since moved to a 3" 1911 and haven't looked back. Specifically, I carry a Kimber Ultra Raptor which is an aluminum frame with stainless slide. It's dead reliable and much easier for me to shoot than any of the other smaller .45's.

I shoot a 1911 in USPSA Single Stack division so the officer framed 1911 just feels natural to me and a quality 1911 trigger cannot be beat.

The only Glock .45 I own and will ever own till they make a true compact size (non-GAP and not sub-compact) is a Glock 21 but I don't carry it because it weighs my pants down and prints too much. Great bedside gun though. I hate subcompact pistols. I also hate officer model 1911s. I consider the commander size as "compact"...or as compact as I will go anyway...so with that in mind, my vote would be for most any quality 1911 in comander size...My Dan Wesson CBOB is my personal favorite. But the full size grip makes it a little harder to conceal or no easier than a full size 1911 anyway. I don't understand why so many people buy subcompact Glocks and then add mag extensions so their pinky doesn't dangle. By the time you add a mag extension to a baby Glock, you might as well had gone Compact size. There's no advantage in a short frame/barrel. So for Glock conceal carry, my only option is G23 .40 cal...sorry, I don't like any of your options. UNLESS! It's for a backup piece strapped to my ankle...which I have never done but if I did...I'd go Glock 36

Compare the overall dimensions of a G30S and a G23- not much difference in the external measurements except for a slightly wider slide ;)
