The Fear Of Carrying Cocked And Locked

Just carry both. Ankle carry the sig and oc the 1911. Match 1911 with shoes

The safest way to carry a 1911 is the way you feel comfortable. With that being said the 1911 was designed to be carried cocked and locked.

Carry it cocked and locked with an empty chamber around your house, you will gain trust once you see it's not going to magically come off safety and fire.

There is but only one firearm that makes me nervous. That is the FN five seven. Mine has a SWEET trigger on it. Too sweet that it makes me nervous. It is the only firearm that I always use the manual safety on.

So just FYI, I know the Sig P938 and P238 are practically mini 1911's. But there is one big difference. There is NO grip safety on the Sigs. That being said, on a 1911, in order for that hammer to fall, you really need to disengage the thumb safety PLUS disengage the grip safety. The Sigs only require you to disengage the thumb safety. That's kind of a big difference to me. Keep in mind, I've never owned a P938/238. I've talked to some people recently that have and I've heard more than once that the thumb safety didn't seem to be that sturdy. In other words, it seemed quite easy to disengage it and they had concerns that it might disengage accidentally. I'm skeptical on this, but it's definitely something to be mindful of. I would think that if you have it in a quality Kydex holster, such as the Cook's the OP mentioned, and it's molded in the engaged position, the chance of it being disengaged accidentally are slim.

I, too, am still considering switching to it for a summer carry, but the lack of a grip safety has made me hesitant (they're also not that cheap compared to a $350 Kahr CM9).

Don't be I afraid. I used to be too but like another said try it at home for awhile and you'll get the hang out nothing to worry about OP

Idk who said that glockissue I have never had a loose or unsturdy safety in mine it doesnt even wiggle, and it's the best for summer carry/backup definitely I love them so much I know own 5-238's with 2 more on layaway and 2-938's so far! I plan on getting more

That's a lot of the same pistol. And that's good to hear. Thanks for the input.

Haha yes it is but when it's a good one you want more price has gone up significantly since I bought my 1st so everytime there on a good sale price somewhere I get one. Just like glocks and 1911's you can never have just 1

Where's P protective measures when you need him? LOL

Great feedback! The price of the P938 vs the polymer carry guns was always a turn off to me. But, when PSA had that sweet Shot Show special on P938's a few weeks back, that really got me thinking about one.

I never really thought about it, but like others have said, the probability of a ND with a striker fired gun exist just as much when carelessness or circumstances line up...

But that hammer being back, LOL

I just got in from the range & am dog tired... what'd I miss?
