I need help to clarify something.
If I buy a Springfield Echelon or one of the other pistols that uses the fire control group as the serialized part, I should be able to have both a long frame and a short frame pistol if I get the right parts correct?
One 4473 for two ?
Or am I missing something?

Ok I am new to this concept so forgive my ignorance. So the FCU is serialized not the frame.
If you should buy an aftermarket trigger, is the firearm no unserialized?

The FCG is the serialized part. Only one 4473.

I don't know about the Echelon specifically, but the FCG is considered serialized, but even then, you can replace springs, triggers and parts of the FCG.

They're all mounted in a U-section piece of formed steel (if it's anything like a Sig P320).

That's an 80%, but you get the idea. That's what would actually be serialized.

Oh - here you go - the Echelon FCU vs the SIG P320 ... you can clearly see the serial on the upper FCU.
