Interesting food for thought.
One concern he does not address is the fact that the head is much more mobile than the center of body, which greatly increases the likelihood of a miss due to target movement. The simplest example of this is the way a person instinctively moves when they duck. A head shot could easily miss, but center mass would still make a good hit.

His point in this is that chest shots might only be a waste of ammo. More and more shootings the bad guy's are wearing plates.
I got that and it is happening more often, but the vast majority of the time they are not wearing armor or a bomb. I think folks are much more likely to lose the fight because of a missed headshot than the bad guy wearing armor. The best solution is to cover all the bases. Two to the body, one to the head. More to the head if they aren't down yet. Of course, if they are wearing a bomb, you're ****ed either way.
Easily doable at "common" engagement distances, even with both participants moving......if you train and practice.
12ga buckshot ain't a guarantee to put anyone down when they're wearing armor. I remember a SWAT entry in Florida. Pointman takes a load of 00 buck to the center of his vest, stayed on his feet and returned fire. Plus, you're much more likely to be toting a handgun than a scattergun.
I like the phrase "A handgun is only useful to fight your way to a good rifle or carbine", but believe it to be a fallacy. You're going to start and end the fight with whatever weapon you have on your person, so learn to dance with the girl that you brung.
