The price of eggs is too damn high!

I've been on a high protein meal plan for a few weeks now and eggs are a major source of my diet.
Bought eggs last week...$3:25 which I thought was high then.
Today... $4:95 and these aren't fancy free range or organically fed chicken eggs but just plain old store brand butt nuggets.
Up until now I've been kidding about being on the "Too poor to eat diet" but that joke doesn't seem so funny now.
Where are you buying eggs? Publix?

Are you buying two dozen for $4? A flat? Or just 12?

Jumbo? Medium?

Need more details to be outraged.

I just payed a buck fifty for a dozen large at aldi.

My chickens are not laying yet but they are big enough to eat.

Dozen, large at the DG on the corner. They where slightly cheaper at Ingles but just barely.
I try to avoid WallyWorld like the plague but I may have to bite the bullet and pay the devil.

Ohhh!!!!

DG.

Thats like the lottery. Poor tax.

That makes sense. Walgreens is just as insane on prices.

Try Aldi. And make sure to bring a quarter because you won’t be able to get a shopping cart if you don’t lol trust me I learned that the hard way multiple times.

And they dont provide bags either. I pick up a few boxes while I’m there then run them through my 15 piece of paper (at a time … it’s their rating on the duty cycle) $100 Amazon schredder for free chicken/guiney pig/worm bed litter.

I also get free boxes from the liquor store and run all of my Amazon boxes, ammo boxes, packages, junk, mail, etc. and end up turning it into compost after all said and done.

You need a neighbor who keeps chickens and sleeps late.

Based on what my wife feeds our chickens (fresh fruit and/or vegetables each morning, high quality chicken feed and freeze dried insect larvae each day), I think the eggs you're buying are a pretty good price. The way I have it figured, if we can average 8 eggs a day out of the 9 chickens that we have, for the next 40 years, we might be able to break even! LOL
I have the same problem. But …….. happy hen equals happy wife. Lol 😂
