The Walking Dead returns......

Lol, not saying that you guys are wrong, but you're reading a lot more into that line than I did. I took it at face value and just thought that the he really liked the way dude made a cup of tea.

Possibly... however there were more than one mention of "tea" in the episode which I found suspicious, he tells Blondie to drink up the tea and the way Merle was easily controlled (he was never that way in Rick's group) and the way people were acting so "Pleasantville" around town, gardening, weeding, raking, mowing, etc. Maybe there's nothing to the tea...then again, maybe it's the Governor's way of mind control.

I think he just surrounds himself with broken people because they are more easily controlled. Merle may have been a Badass but he no longer is. The Gov is the only alpha I saw. Which is probably why he killed the guard unit. This seems more likely than an unlimited supply of drugs.

And they've deviated from the comic as far as the gov goes so there is nothing there to tell us where its going.

You may be on to something. The wife and I were discussing how he got the people in the town to do things like murder a National Guard platoon. It also doesn't seem that the town in general is aware of what his security force really does.

I'll have to watch it again and pay more attention.

I did notice Merle was pretty well neutered, but I missed the tea references.

Agreed, don't want to say too much and accidentally spoil it for those that haven't read it, but I don't think Rick, the Governor, or Michonne will follow the same path this season as comic. Curious if Lori will.

As to the weak people, if I had been living through that for a year and he offered to take my family in in exchange for my obedience I might be willing to kill for him to give my wife and kids some security and a chance to have a life.

Good points. And I hope Lori goes the way of the comic.

He does have a scientist/doctor/pharmacologist something or other working for him...so who knows. This season has already turned out to be 3X better than all of last season.

Agreed. Unfortunately last season was necessary character development for the future. Also doing 16 episodes as opposed to the 6 of season one made it seem extra long.

If he is drugging them I think that is a lame sub-plot. I hope it's not that.
