Just a few things that caught my eye from the article
"a man fired at him with a high-powered assault rifle." what was it?
"shielding the rookie officer" if this was indeed a high-powered assault rifle how would this provide cover? maybe only concealment , don't get me wrong I am not taking anything a way from the van driver he put himself in harms well to help someone else and that should be commended.
"The best way to stop a bad man with a gun is a good man with a van."
Yet the real thing that stopped him was an off duty police officer with at gun ="When Armand refused, the officer fired, striking him several times. Armand was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital."
