Turks and-Caicos US tourist facing 12 years in prison for 4 loose rounds in carry on luggage

So how did the ammo make it past TSA when he left the US to fly there? Seems like it should have been caught there first as much as they search your stuff. Last time I flew a few months ago they must of ran my carry-on back through 3 times, and my shoes too. Seems fishy honestly that ammo would make it past the scanners here first, and through customs there before being spotted on his way back.

Dumb as hell that he might have to serve that time, but their country their rules. Hopefully the US can help him out though.
