Looking for a good thermal handheld for early detection so range is a factor..

I want something that doesn’t break the bank but will satisfy my needs. Don’t want to regret my purchase like a few of my friends.

What are you guys running? Are you satisfied with it, have any issues etc?

Any help would be appreciated, I’ve found a few so far that seem reasonable all the way around. I just wanted to get a few different angles on this from people who may be more experienced.

Thanks

I would love to hear some opinions as well.

I'm using a FLIR Scout TK and it has done okay for what I bought it for. I use it for hunting and locating downed game and checking woods coming and going to/from stand. Range is about 150 yards or so in my experience and the hotter the weather, the less it is able to pick out heat signatures. Big thing on using thermal for me was learning curve. $500 handheld is not like a $5000 weapon scopes you see on YouTube.

You didn't say what your "needs" were, so I'm sure someone else will chime in with some of the higher end units for comparison.

You need to find someone and look thru it.the prices definitely reflect the capabilities.i have used some 12 grand stuff that was unbelievable.i just can’t justify the cost.i use a+ gen 3 night vision

I have a AGM ASP-Micro that I bought from B&H Photo in NYC. I got it because I found walking to my stand in the dark I was spooking the deer that were laying in the hollow I hunt. I've played with it and it's a really nice optic. I've picked up my dogs walking in a thick wooded area behind my house. You can change the colors for hot and cold, and take a pic with it. I think it'll work fine for what I'll use it for. It looks exactly like a Leupold that I was considering, so they may be made by the same company. If you do buy it from B&H, call them and ask them for a discount. They knocked off another 20 bucks just for asking.

Got my wife a thermal attachment for her cell phone. While waiting outside of Red Robin in Newnan I attached it to my phone curious to see if any animals were out, there were. The thermal picked up little red fart clouds emitted from peoples asses as the exited the restaurant

Just ordered one. I called and got $12 off so that pretty cool...plus a free keychain light and free expedited shipping. SCORE!
I did the chat online and they gave me a discount code which worked, but when I went to check out the discount went away and they said I would need to call.

I did, I stated for early detection.

Specifically for detecting humans and animals in the woods. While nv serves its purpose there are a few areas that a gap needs to be bridged and can only be done with a thermal

I’m looking for something around 2k, I want something pretty good again, I just don’t want to spend 500 and wish I spent another 1000 to get something acceptable for my purpose.
