This is embarrassing.

Done.
My wife was diagnosed and taken out of work in 1992.
She is very familiar with the disease.
She has also run a MS support group for years.
PM me if you would like to contact her.

And a good neurologist who knows how to deal with SS is a must.

I have a really good neurologist. I first met her in the hospital and she spent an hour explaining to me what had happened Ann she was patient with all of my questions She is really cool.

I put in for SSI disability but my understanding is that it takes a really long time and that I may have to get an attorney to make that work.

I'm really disappointed with The Georgia Department of Labor. if people were trying to contact me for it support and I was responding to their calls the way DOL is I'd be fired tomorrow.

I will definitely PM you about the support group very interested in that.

Ex313 Ex313 when was the last time you worked?
Asking for the SS disability info you were referring to.

There are two types of disability you can get if eligible.
SS Disability insurance(SSDI)claim or SSI which is Supplement Income
With SSDI you must have worked 5 of the last 8 quarters and contributed to SS .
SSI is for folks that do not qualify but will still receive a little money (very very little... $400-600/mo) IF your spouse doesnt make too much.

SSDI Is much harder to get and takes a couple of years even with an advocate.
(atty or advocate Cannot do anything more than you can, they just know all the procedures to save you the headache and hassle of doing it yourself, for a cut)

I hope this helps some.

I was laid off July 17th 2020. between then and now I've managed to pick up a day job my resume is pretty full.

If I can get my tongue to work again, I was planning on starting a voice over business. Along with making training videos for companies. I found some companies have 100% work from home IT jobs the trick is getting them to interview you.

Yeah, with that MS you wont want to be working once they start really kicking the treatments in. I have three friends with that mess and one relative that lost their battle with it after 35+yrs . That is a long time to have to put up with this terrible infliction.

Apply for your SSDI now. Almost everyone is turned down first time unless you have a life threatening illness. MS falls within those guidelines but you need your neurologist to write it out that any amount of work will result in death.
You will get it within 30 days. That is how they done my niece.
